DeepSeek V4 with Claude Code: Best AI Coding Workflow

In this video, I tested DeepSeek V4 with Claude Code to see whether it can create a cheaper but still efficient AI coding workflow. Claude Code is an amazing agentic coding harness, but Claude models can be expensive and heavily rate-limited during long coding sessions. That’s where DeepSeek V4 becomes interesting. DeepSeek V4 may not replace Claude, Opus, or GPT for high-quality reasoning, UI polish, architecture, or final code review — but it can handle many basic coding tasks surprisingly well at a much lower cost. In this demo, I used a hybrid workflow: DeepSeek V4 for basic work: Project scaffolding, mock data, scripts, unit tests, simple coding tasks, automation, and repetitive fixes. Claude for important work: UI polish, architecture decisions, complex reasoning, code review, final refactor, and product-quality finishing. I also set up a local Anthropic-compatible proxy so Claude Code can route one workflow through DeepSeek, while keeping another workflow native to Claude. Then I built an AgentOps Studio AI dashboard using this dual-model workflow — first DeepSeek created the foundation, then Claude polished it into a more complete product-style interface. This video is not about proving DeepSeek V4 is better than Claude. It is about showing where DeepSeek V4 is useful: as a cheap backup driver inside Claude Code to reduce cost, save premium model usage, and avoid burning through rate limits.
