Assembling and installing a Quick Performance Ford 9" rear-end into a 1981 Chevy El Camino G-body Quick Performance is an American automotive parts store based in Ames, Iowa, specializing in custom-built differentials and rear-end assemblies. Founded in 1984, the company is highly popular among drag racers and hot rod builders for its high-horsepower Ford 9-inch conversions, custom alloy axle shafts, and complete bolt-in housing packages. Full-floater hubs are heavy-duty wheel hubs designed so that the vehicle's weight is carried entirely by the axle housing rather than the axle shaft itself. In this setup, the axle shaft only transmits rotational torque to the wheels, making it the preferred choice for heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, and serious off-road rigs. A spool differential is not actually a differential at all, but a solid, one-piece component that permanently locks the left and right axle shafts together. In a standard vehicle, a differential uses internal "spider gears" to allow the outside wheel to spin faster than the inside wheel when rounding a corner. A spool completely eliminates these gears. This forces both wheels to rotate at the exact same speed at all times, providing 100% full-time traction to both wheels. Axle spacing and fitting a driveshaft Because both the GM 3R series and the Ford 1330 Large Cap share the exact same 1.125-inch bearing cap diameter, this conversion joint features identical 1.125-inch caps on all four sides.
