Filmed in Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Moscow and Washington, The Six-Day War takes a contemporary look at the conflict. The weeks leading up to the war, the six days of fighting and the aftermath of the conflict form the narrative backbone of the film. Part I, The Sound of Guns, focuses almost exclusively on the march of events leading up to the war. The story of the critical three weeks leading up to the war is told through the prism of the personal dramas of Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser and Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol. Part II, From War to Occupation, focuses more on the war with Jordan, the occupation of the West Bank and the unification of Jerusalem. Eshkol, Nasser, Hussein, their military advisors and commanders occupy the background and a new group of characters storms the forefront: Israeli and Jordanian soldiers on one side, the Palestinian populations on the other forced to flee before the victorious Israeli troops, who have become the vanguard of a colonization movement. The film interweaves unpublished testimonies and interviews with some of the protagonists of this war, recently declassified archival documents, excerpts from the personal diaries of the key actors of this conflict and the evocation of the dramatic moments that punctuated its unfolding.
