This Bandsaw Should Have Been Better

My portable bandsaw has been one of the most useful tools in my shop, but it's also one of the loudest. When a Delta 4x6 bandsaw showed up at auction, I decided to turn it into a dedicated vertical saw and see if I could build something quieter and more comfortable to use. The conversion included CAD work, 3D printed prototypes, laser-cut brackets, welding, new bearings, and a new blade. Everything looked promising... until I started cutting. What followed was a small engineering investigation into blade speed, performance, and why the humble Portaband is harder to beat than I expected.
