377. How To Mix for Blooms or Flip Cups!!! /art therapy / tlp pigments / asmr

#tlppigments #flipcup #fluidart Hi all! Per request, I'm taking a mini break from the big bloom action to show you an updated video on how I mix my paints. You'll learn how to mix no matter what the paint viscosity is--tube paints (medium to heavy body); fluid acrylics (aka "the runny stuff"); and pigments! The reason why I like this recipe so much is its versatility--I can use it for the blooms technique, my deconstructed blooms, and flip cups! I also like that by simply changing the base, I can get different effects! For example, instead of using titanium white mixed with American Floetrol as I do in this video, I could use regular white house paint (Eggshell is preferred), spread it to cover my canvas, and get pearl cells when I tilt and stretch out the paint! How cool is that?! I'll be sure to do another video after the holidays so you can see what the house paint does without the need for DecoArt Satin Enamal--especially if you don't want pearl cells taking over the entire canvas! Anyway, back to this video! In this one I wasn't worried about getting a lot of cells as I knew I was going to tilt quite a bit to get the dreamy quality I was after, but the line work produced by adding a cell activator to the colors really makes for some interesting effects; and using two cell activator colors really opens up the spectrum for color blending. Link is below. *************************************************************** Colors/Brands: Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe—mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator: Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); Varathane Water-based Polyurethane Gloss 2:1 ratio paint to varnish. Mix well. Brands/Colors mixed: Golden Fluid Acrylics in Iridescent Gold Fine; TLP pigments (This Little Piggy) in Lily Pad and Emerald. DaVinci Fluid Acrylics in Payne's Gray; tube paint is Arteza Pearl Turquoise. Golden and Global Fluid Acrylics-- I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well. For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick then I'll add a teaspoon of varnish/water to thin. (I make a bottle of "Jo-Wa" by adding 1/3 JoSonja Gloss Varnish and the rest water, and keep it in a squeeze bottle and use as my "water.") All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well. Cell Activator Colors: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Prussian Blue with a tiny bit of Amsterdam Oxide Black.
