In today's video, I decided to try the Talking Angela app again: I downloaded the first original version (now gone), which was around in 2016! It was super complicated, but I managed it, and it was also interesting to try the challenge with the app and discover new things. Did you know you could talk to Angela via chat? Or that she could see you?! Absurd! Plus, the answers she gave were mind-blowing. Warning: Is there someone hiding behind the kitten? There's alarm bells ringing for "Talking Angela," the app so beloved by kids that lets you interact with a virtual kitten just like in a real chat. In recent days, several parents have contacted the Postal Police to report something decidedly "ambiguous" about the game on their children's smartphones and tablets. It appears that, through the eyes of the talking animal, both the children and then the parents themselves clearly identified the silhouette of a middle-aged man sitting in a sort of office, with a bookcase behind him. Furthermore, the children, all between the ages of 9 and 11, were also unsettled by the decidedly intimate questions the game posed, explicitly requesting personal information, such as their name and address. And, in one reported case, even the suggestion of a possible meeting. The incriminating game belongs to Outfit 7, the company that makes other series like Talking Tom and Talking Ginger, apps that allow players to interact by answering questions coherently, as well as participating in quizzes and interactive games, such as "petting" the kitten via the touchscreen and caring for it. Although the manufacturer has denied the claims, which emerged from various reports from around the world, online experts are speculating on a possible hacker attack. Hackers have gained control of the app and are using it to spy on and take photos of children, since a webcam is immediately activated as soon as "Talking Angela" is downloaded. The possibility that it's just a hoax has been disproved by numerous reports from concerned parents who are contacting law enforcement agencies across Italy.
