The Moment 1530 MW Off-Grid~Everything’s start Shaking in Tail When trillions of gallons discharge

YouTube Description Welcome to one of the world’s largest earth-filled dam projects! In this video, I explored the operation and testing of Tunnel No. 4, one of the five massive tunnels of this mega hydropower and irrigation system. Currently, four tunnels are operational for power generation, while another major powerhouse project with three additional turbines is still under construction. This video specifically covers Tunnel 4, which contains three huge turbines with a combined discharge capacity of approximately 45,000 cusecs. Alongside these turbines, two Low Level Outlets (LLOs) are also connected to the same tunnel system. These LLOs have a massive combined discharge capacity of around 90,000 cusecs and are mainly designed to meet high irrigation demand whenever water requirements exceed turbine discharge capacity. Normally, the turbines can discharge up to 45,000 cusecs for generation, but during peak irrigation demand, all three turbines can be shut down and the Low Level Outlets are operated instead to supply enormous water flow for irrigation purposes. In this video, I showed the complete first-time testing and operation sequence of the LLO system: Emergency Gates lifting procedure Operation of both Radial Gates Sequential opening of Gate A and Gate B Gradual opening from 10% to 70% Real-time structural and vibration observations during operation This was one of the most critical testing operations because engineers wanted to analyze the structural impacts and vibration effects caused by operating the Low Level Outlets at high discharge levels. During the testing, several serious effects were observed: Heavy vibrations recorded by vibration monitoring instruments Building windows shaking intensely Large cracks appearing on nearby roads and structures above the tunnel alignment Leakage observed from turbine MIV areas Strong vibration and noise from air release valves Workshop machinery shaking because the tunnel passes beneath the workshop area Due to these unexpected vibration and structural effects, the LLO operation was stopped at around 70% opening using the emergency gates for safety reasons. Further safety analysis and operational studies will now determine the safe operating limits of these powerful outlets. This was a rare and powerful engineering test showing the real challenges behind operating massive hydropower and irrigation infrastructure.
