I set out to hike Scotland’s Cateran Trail solo in winter — but a sudden storm brought the trip to an early end. Snow, heavy rain, strong winds, and whiteout conditions rolled in faster than expected. After pushing on and camping overnight, I was forced to make a difficult decision and cut the route short.
