SHRI DURGAPARAMESHWARI TEMPLE || BELMAN || MANDALA POOJE HORAKANIKE MERAVANIGE || 2025

Belman Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple Belmannu is a small village that lies almost exactly midway between Padubidri and Karkala. It is about 12-15 kms from Padubidri after turning right on the Mangalore – Udupi highway at Padubidri. And it is about 18 Km from Karkala. The main attraction of Belmannu village is Durga Parameshwari Temple which was constructed in 7th Century AD. This temple is also known as Vana Durga Temple or Durga of the Forest because it is surrounded by greenery and it appears that this temple is located middle of a thick jungle. Along with Sri Durga Parameshwari, the temple also has the idol of Sri Ganapati. The temple has an amazing serenity about itself that is quite unique. The temple structure itself, looks to have been renovated a few years ago and looks very good. The Prangana is very huge and is fairly well maintained. The priests of the temple are always from the Bhargava Gotra. The main Bhuta at the temple is Rakteshwari. In addition, there are also many other Rajan Daivas at the temple. The oldest Kannada copper plate inscription was found under the foundation of this temple in 1952. The inscription states that certain rights were given to the Belmannu Village Council which functioned from the Temple, maybe looked after the operations of the temple. As the inscription dates back to 8th century AD, the temple is believed to be older than the inscription. Shri Ganapati The annual festival happens around March-April and is held for 5 days.
