Sones mazatecos, herencia cultural de Huautla de Jiménez

Huautla de Jiménez is one of the five "Pueblos Mágicos" (Magical Towns) in the state of Oaxaca, a place steeped in mysticism, nature, culture, and traditions. Its Mazatec songs are part of the cultural heritage that has prevailed for generations. A press release explained that "Flor de Naranjo" (Orange Blossom) in Mazatec, "Naxo loxa," is a fusion of traditional indigenous songs encompassing the Mazatec songs known as "Flor de Piña" (Pineapple Flower), "El Anillo de Oro" (The Golden Ring), "La Flor de Lis" (The Lily Flower), and "La Paloma" (The Dove). This music represents those born in the Sierra Mazateca region. This traditional dance is presented annually at the Rotonda de las Azucenas (Rotunda of the Lilies) during Oaxaca's most important festival, La Guelaguetza. However, the Mazatec songs of Huautla de Jiménez are also commonly danced at patron saint festivals, baptisms, weddings, mayordomías (religious brotherhood celebrations), and other social events, and are inspired by the surrounding landscape of the Cañada region.
