ZIL-117V Brezhnev Cabriolet – Der seltenste sowjetische Luxuswagen der UdSSR
The ZIL-117V is one of the rarest automobiles ever built in the Soviet Union. This handcrafted convertible was based on the ZIL-117 representative limousine, which in turn was derived from the legendary ZIL-114. Originally intended for military parades, the car gained particular fame when Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party, used it as a personal vehicle. Only 10 examples were produced, one of which was destroyed in an accident in 1975. With its length of over 5.7 meters, its straight lines, and elegant chrome details, the ZIL-117V embodies the Soviet interpretation of 1970s American luxury design. Each body was handcrafted, including the side panels and precision-fitted details. The two-layer fabric top can be completely retracted behind the rear seat in less than 15 seconds. Then, the view opens up to an impressive interior featuring genuine leather, fine wood veneer, and gleaming chrome details. The rear seat offers exceptional comfort – a legacy of the ZIL-114 sedan. Under the hood sits a 7.0-liter V8 engine producing 300 hp and 570 Nm of torque. This enabled the car to reach a top speed of 200 km/h – faster than any other Soviet sedan of its time. The technology was equally innovative: disc brakes on all four wheels, torsion bar suspension on the front axle, and a reinforced chassis ensured driving stability and safety. The ZIL-117V is not just a car, but a historical symbol of the USSR, reflecting Brezhnev's passion for automobiles. Today, it can be admired in museums such as the Automobile Museum in Verkhnyaya Pyshma near Yekaterinburg, where it captivates visitors with its elegance and power. 🙏 Thank you for subscribing and activating the bell.
