Beginner Friendly Dot Art Tutorial | Let's Paint a Lazy Susan | Video #11

This video is a step-by-step dot art tutorial. I painted a 14" bamboo Lazy Susan and called it "Introspection". Introspection involves the process of looking inward to examine one's own thoughts, emotions, judgments, and perceptions. Creating dot art mandalas allows me the time to self-reflect and I am so grateful for that. I left the base of this Lazy Susan natural and after signing and dating, I varnished the bottom before beginning the painting on the top. I then base-painted in CraftSmart black craft paint. I used a plastic center finder (Lee Valley) to find centre and then added my guidelines. This piece was divided into 16 x 22.5 degree sections. I use the Yoke erasable chalk pencil to create the guidelines. The video follows the process of painting the Lazy Susan using the dot art technique in a mandala style. The process starts from centre and flows outward to infinity, only limited by the size of the Lazy Susan. When the piece was finished and fully dry, I applied 3 coats of Liquitex High Gloss Varnish. Once dry I re-attached the turntable and this beautiful piece was ready for photos. So satisfying!
