They provide its characters with power to change one’s fate and create a sense of meaning. During the 10 year Light and Darkness Saga, the contrast between the two elemental forces has fueled every conflict and motivated factions to mobilize across the galaxy. Today I will explore the central theme of the Light and Darkness Saga: Destiny’s Duality of Light and Darkness. The opening words of Destiny set the stage for the conflict’s central dualism: the traveler and the darkness. Interestingly, players would learn of the darkness’ existence before even hearing of the very thing it was defined in opposition to, the traveler’s light. This monologue introduces several key concepts to the light and darkness saga: the traveler, the golden age it gifted humanity, and the collapse brought upon by the darkness arriving to the solar system. All of these concepts are dual in nature, light in opposition to darkness, and a rise before the fall of humanity. The darkness is shrouded in mystery throughout the early years of the Light and Darkness saga, but one thing is clear: it tried to take away the traveler’s gifts.
