Unlike the Northern Terminal, which sees most Freight Trains in Felixstowe, this crossing provides a way to the South, and branches off of the Ipswich to Felixstowe Line. This crossing once had a Railway Station in use - the platform still stands, but has been stripped of any once-existing facilities. It was closed when this branch line became freight-only. The station was called 'Felixstowe Beach', probably the reason for this road being 'Beach Station Road'. Only a handful of trains use this crossing a day The Level Crossing itself consists of 4 LED Warning Lights, 4 Large and fairly new SPX Barriers, all of these installed in 2023, and no Keep Crossing Clear signs. The road is busy, and with the line speed being quite low, these infrequent activations cause gigantic build-ups and congestion! This crossing is controlled through CCTV from Colchester and trains stop a little way from the crossing, but can be seen before it activates.
