La Chapelle (Little India) in Paris Paris is a wonderful polyglot of cultures. Little India forms an exotic splash of very colourful shops lining several streets in the northern part of the 10th arrondissement. Anytime I want to have the freshest of coconuts, the sweetest ripe mangoes, those strange looking vegetables, or Indian spices, I head that way. It is also a feast for my eyes and nose presenting various culinary temptations I hope that I will not succumb to. It is an easy trip on bus 38, all the way to its northern terminus at Gare de Nord, and I always enjoy the scenery on the way up, which is why I prefer the bus, Also you can go there by Metro Ligne 2. Spent an evening in Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, close to Gare du Nord Train Station. This locality is full of ethnic Indian stores catering to Indians and Sri Lankans Indians, especially, south Indians, more particularly Tamils visiting Paris or setting up residence in Paris must vist this place for all types of house hold articles, groceries and Indian vegetables. This place has more than a dozen Indian restaurants including Saravana Bhavan, Thalappa Katti, Sangeetha, Madras Cafe, etc from Chennai. Several garment stores selling ethnic Indian garments, Groceries selling spices and ready to eat Indian ready to eat MTR type goodies, ethnic hair stylists, etc. You can even get your documents in Tamil translated into French with official seal.
