Plein Air Painting a Forest Creek and River Rocks

I hope you are too! Before long it'll be mostly indoor studio works so I am taking advantage of the great weather to bring you as many plein air videos as possible. Don't get me wrong! I am gathering props for more still lifes and I can't wait to work on more portrait videos. I've been thinking about all the new discussions and video content I am looking forward to sharing! This experience was a lot of fun. What you don't see in the video is that I was standing on a large rock in the (near) middle of the creek. If I had taken a step back I would have ended up washing out somewhere in Lake Erie! Ha, not really, but it did make for an exciting albeit perhaps a little too risky for even my comfort level. Another peril... guys- don't forget your water. I didn't think I would be too long when I realized I had forgotten my water bottle, and thought I'd be ok, well, I nearly wasn't. So seriously, even if you think you'll only be an hour, you don't know how inspired you may become, can loose track of time, etc... DON'T forget your water! Alright, done preaching! The thrust of this video is working in a methodical approach; the sketch, the block in of values, then massing in the colors, working the canvas as a whole, then chipping away at bringing in more detailed information and finally the finishing touches.
