LONG ROAD TO OLYMPIA

Long road to Olympia tells the story of founder Michael Cuming of Culturebank and its related International touring show ARC Dreaming ) Australian reconciliation Company). This ambitious project began in the late eighties from a refurbished warehouse which was turned into a performance theatre through volunteer work and the sheer desire to succeed. A long road ahead saw many obstacles overcome and the focus of reconciliation was and still is always its driving force. ARC Dreaming which includes Traditional and Contemporary music and dance combined was also a pioneering project , the grass roots organisation managed to bring this show onto the world's prestigious stages, year's of training youth at risk into budding Indigenous artists made this show one of the first Australian export products to appear in theatres around the world. In 2004 they were invited to be Australia's representatives for the highly prestigious Cultural Olympiad as part of the 2004 Athens Olympics. This documentary is a depiction of the trials and tribulations of this tenacious team of people, mostly unheard of in Australia but respected on an International level.
