This time, I visited Kohama Island in Okinawa Prefecture. Located in the center of the Yaeyama Islands, it's surrounded by the calm sea of the Sekisei Lagoon. This was the 44th island I visited as part of my quest to visit all of Okinawa's remote islands. I went snorkeling at Kubazaki Beach, Coral Beach, and Kayama Island. At Kubazaki Beach, I tried swimming out to the famous Yonara Channel. Compared to the other very unique islands of Yaeyama, Kohama may not have one single "extreme" feature, but its overall balance is second to none.
