I Played in Asia's LARGEST Pro Paintball Tournament!
The MBPP Mayor's Cup is a Professional Paintball Tournament that is held in Penang, Malaysia, once a year. With over 100 teams, it is currently Asia's largest paintball event. I filmed this video using GoPro cameras mounted on my paintball mask and my planet eclipse marker to achieve a paintball POV experience. I joined a Singaporean team called Penang Rojek for this event. We competed in division 2. Watch the video until the end to find out how we went! It began as a regional event in Penang and gradually expanded in scale, attracting teams from across Malaysia and neighbouring countries. Over the years, the tournament has introduced multiple competitive categories and divisions, helping it evolve into a highly structured and internationally recognised event. By 2024, it had already celebrated its tenth edition, and participation continued to rise with each passing year. A defining moment for the tournament came when the 2025 Mayor’s Cup drew a record 105 teams and over 1,000 participants. Teams competed across a wide range of categories, including Open Electronic, Premier Electronic, Open Mechanical, Rookies, Valkyrie (female division), Local Councils, and special closed-door groups. This mix reflects the tournament’s commitment to inclusivity, providing space for newcomers, experienced athletes, women’s teams, and even municipal representatives to take part. The event has also become known for offering substantial prize pools and attracting international competitors from across Asia. Today, the Mayor’s Cup stands as a professionally run, highly anticipated paintball championship in Malaysia. Hosted annually at Padang Polo in George Town, Penang, it features clear scheduling, well-organised divisions, and strong promotional support from Raskal Sports. The tournament’s large turnout and city-backed organisation highlight its importance within Southeast Asia’s paintball community, giving both local and international teams a platform to compete at a high level. From its modest beginnings to its current status as a premier regional event, the Mayor’s Cup has played a significant role in elevating competitive paintball in Malaysia. Its continued growth, diverse divisions, and international reach demonstrate how tournament paintball in the region is becoming more professional, more inclusive, and more widely recognised each year.
