Тарас Франко. Геній у тіні Каменяра

Taras Franko (1889–1971) was a Ukrainian writer, translator, teacher and scientist, the second son of the outstanding classicist Ivan Franko. Despite the fact that he had to live his whole life "in the shadow" of his brilliant father, he was an extremely original and talented person. Taras knew many foreign languages ​​(in particular, ancient ones - Latin and Greek), taught philology, wrote his own works of art, critical articles and left behind invaluable memories of his father and the Frank family. His fate was dramatic: he survived Soviet repressions, the Soviet-German war and forced relocation to Kyiv, where the Soviet authorities tried to keep him under constant ideological control, using his famous surname for propaganda. Despite this pressure, Taras Franko managed to maintain his internal independence, dedicating a significant part of his life to preserving and popularizing his father's legacy as director of the Ivan Franko Foundation.
