The Banned Ice Skating Move- The Backflip - The Somersault Technique. In 1976, Terry Kubicka did an Ice Skating Backflip in a major competition. But it was quickly outlawed in competition! In 1998, French skater Surya Bonaly performed a backflip, landing on one skate instead of two, even though it was banned. Then in 2024, another French figure skater Adam Siao Him Fa also performed a backflip in a world championships and the following year it was unbanned.
