This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. It explains the cognitive processes linked to the experience of learning to read. It emphasizes the development of research tools to better understand how children learn. Convinced of the importance of including neuroscience in the educational debate, he has focused his research on neural networks, studying their role in language and knowledge processing. He is a biochemist and biophysicist, a researcher at the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology, as well as at PEDECIBA (Program for the Development of Basic Sciences). Together with colleagues at the University, he is establishing the field of Cognitive Science in Uruguay. About TEDx, x = independently organized event. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
