Havelyn Chiasson

Havelyn Chiasson shares his memories of service in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He recounts the circumstances of his enlistment, training for D-Day, and his experiences on Juno Beach and in the wider Battle of Normandy (including Carpiquet airfield). A radio operator with the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment, Have explains his job connecting various aspects of the battalion. He opens up to discuss the grim aspects of war and the reality of death before remarking on the moment he learned the war was over. Havelyn Chiasson passed away shortly after the 75th anniversary of D-Day, in June 2019.
