Ngā Taikura o Ngāti Hauā – Taikura Kapa Haka 2022
Here, we’re at Kai-a-te-Mata Marae with Ngā Taikura o Ngāti Hauā. Enjoy this beautiful performance and kōrero (talks, discussions) with our Ngāti Haua kaumātua (elders). Historically, Te Papa has hosted the annual Taikura Kapa Haka event as part of our Matariki celebrations, welcoming kaumātua (elders) groups from throughout Aotearoa. For 2022, we’ve used the same approach as 2021 and captured each group as they perform kapa haka (Māori performing arts) within their own rohe (region), as well as interviews with members of that group about their experiences within Taikura Kapa Haka and what this means to them in 2022. https://tepapa.nz/Taikura-2022
