Video Information: Category: Gaming Video Type: Let's Play Game: CLUEDO --------------------------- Cluedo [ˈkluːdoʊ], usually spelled [klu'e:do] (Clue in the USA and Canada), is a board game for two to six players in which a murder case must be solved by combining clues. ------------------------ History: In 1943/1944, British paralegal Anthony Ernest Pratt (1903–1994) and his wife Elva (1913–1990) invented a game they called Murder! A patent for the game concept and board was filed in 1944 and granted in 1947. In 1945/46, Waddingtons acquired the rights to the game, which, due to material shortages, was not released until 1948/49 as Cluedo. The game was licensed to Parker Brothers for the North American market, who released it in 1949 as Clue, The Sherlock Holmes Game. Since then, approximately 3 million copies have been produced worldwide each year. In 1959, Schmidt Spiele brought the game to the German-speaking market under the title Wer ist Meisterdetektiv? (Who is Master Detective?), but it was the later Parker Brothers version that achieved market success. Parker Brothers and Waddingtons were acquired by the American toy manufacturer Hasbro in 1991 and 1994, respectively, and Hasbro continues to produce the game today.
