Vu Dinh Huynh (1905-1990) was the first private secretary trusted by President Ho Chi Minh, chosen from the Tan Trao National Congress in August 1945. He was the first Colonel of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, promoted to Colonel by President Ho Chi Minh in Paris at the Fontainebleau Conference in 1946. A man who lived through almost the entire 20th century of Vietnam — from the colonial era, through the August Revolution, through the two great resistance wars of the nation. Mr. Vu Thu Hien (born October 18, 1933) is the eldest son, a writer who received formal training in the Soviet Union from 1955 to 1958. He is the author of the novel "Childhood Land"—a work that won the A Prize for children's literature from the Vietnam Writers Association in 1988.
