President-elect Abelardo De La Espriella began his regional transition meetings in Cúcuta, announcing a major military offensive in the Catatumbo region that will prioritize institutional investment and security in this area of ​​Norte de Santander. During a meeting with local authorities, the president-elect issued a strong ultimatum to two of the main leaders of the illegal armed groups operating in the region. De La Espriella, accompanied by his Ministers of Finance and Defense, met with the department's governor and local mayors to define priority actions. In his remarks, the president-elect declared the criminal leaders known as Alfred and Andrei as primary targets. The new national security approach will be extended throughout the country following the change of administration. The designated Minister of Defense, Jorge Mora, confirmed the reinstatement of legal action against organized armed groups. Mora assured that on August 7th, all arrest warrants for the leaders of the National Self-Defense Union will be reactivated through a coordinated effort and strict collaboration with the Attorney General's Office. This event in Cúcuta marks the first of 32 territorial transition meetings that the incoming government team will hold in each department of the country, with Casanare being the next destination. Simultaneously, new cabinet appointments were confirmed: Omar Bula will assume the role of Foreign Minister, and Valerie Lafaurie will serve as Presidential Advisor for the Regions.
