I believe it is important to accurately understand the nature of YouTube. YouTube is a platform for marketing business conducted through advertising sales. You must fully understand the rationale behind why advertisers do not want to run ads on channels they dislike or that damage their brand. YouTube invested massive capital to provide users with channels for free, offering them the opportunity to earn enormous amounts of money. However, if a business does not yield significant profits for them, they have determined that there is no longer any reason to grant channel usage rights, even if a channel has tens of millions of subscribers. This is a phenomenon that did not exist before AI became widespread. With the circulation of so many meaningless channels mass-produced by AI, YouTube must have felt a massive burden on operating costs. Since advertisers are not seeking them out and they are not generating revenue—literally just AI-generated slops—they are now taking drastic measures. Given that users actually reap most of the revenue despite astronomical operating costs, from YouTube's perspective, channels shunned by advertisers can be seen as entering a ruthless phase of complete liquidation. One short I enjoyed watching had educational content and wasn't bad (it was entirely AI-generated), but despite having 4.65 million subscribers, it was hit hard in a single blow within a year, and its revenue is currently suspended. Data showing that advertisers do not want AI-generated channels has been available since last year, so while this harsh crackdown was foreseen, I cannot help but be surprised by how urgently and on how large-scale it is being carried out. The reality where appeals are difficult, relying solely on algorithm learning and bot judgments based on internal policies without specific explanations or criteria, feels frustrating and unreasonable, which I believe is only natural. Whether or not there will be a global response... For now, we will have to wait and see.
