*There is a typographical error. × Bando (incorrect) → 〇 Bando (correct) [Scenery of the Junction] Visited in September 2022 JR Shikoku Iketani Station is an intermediate station on the Takatoku Line, but it is also the starting point of the Naruto Line, making it a junction between the two lines. This station opened when the Awa Electric Railway opened from what is now Muya Station to Furukawa Station on the left bank of the Yoshino River, passing through this station. It served as a part of the current Naruto Line-Takatoku Line route. At the time, Iketani Station was located approximately 500 meters closer to Naruto. Later, when a line to Kajiyahara Station via what is now Itano Station was opened, it was relocated to its current location and became a junction station. Then, a line to Takamatsu opened, with the Takamatsu-Tokushima section becoming the Takatoku Main Line and the Iketani-Naruto section becoming the Naruto Line. The wiring within the station is very distinctive. The single track from the Tokushima direction branches into four tracks just before the station, with two Takatoku Line tracks and two Naruto Line tracks arranged in a V-shape. When viewed from the Tokushima direction, the Takatoku Line is on the left and the Naruto Line is on the right, with each track curving left and right, and the station building located between the two tracks. Both the Takatoku Line and Naruto Line have island platforms sandwiched between the tracks, allowing trains to pass each other, with platforms 1 and 2 for the Takatoku Line and platforms 3 and 4 for the Naruto Line. The branching point is the group of switches on the Tokushima side, and the separation point is also located just after the branching point. Incidentally, the Naruto Line technically starts at Iketani Station, with the direction towards Naruto Station being the down direction, but operationally the direction towards Tokushima is considered the down direction to match the Takatoku Line.
