A Beaver Family of 4 in the River

ChewBarka and Willow and 2 Kits!! Saturday night I was sitting quietly at the edge of the river while Willow was eating a large branch she had harvested. Shortly after that, ChewBarka arrived and settled in quite close to where I was sitting. In this video, you will see Willow checking in to see if Chewy wants to groom. When he ignored her, she ambled past him and stopped right in front of where I was sitting. I actually spoke so that she would know I was there. Willow started grooming her fur, and after a minute moved a few feet away. She then sat and groomed for quite a while. While she was grooming, both of their yearling kits arrived in the area and started eating branches. The scene was interrupted when some butt-head through a large cup or bottle off of the bridge that made a loud splat nearby, and some of the beavers quickly swam off, thinking it might be danger. After a few seconds, they returned when they realized there was no danger, but Willow’s grooming session was over. It was an incredible experience to sit quietly while the family went about its beaver business just a few feet away.
