#cornwall #cornish #pasty #traditionalrecipe Traditional Cornish Pasty Pastry ingredients: 500g strong white bread flour 125g chilled lard 125g chilled butter 1tsp salt 150ml ice cold water Filling: 400g small diced beef skirt or chuck steak, shin etc 250g thin sliced potato, (I use a floury potato but some people prefer a waxy potato ) 150g thin sliced swede otherwise known as Swedish turnip or rutabaga 100g fine diced white onion 40g butter Plenty of salt and white pepper 1 egg plus a good pinch of salt, whisked, to glaze Cooking temps and times: Pre-heat oven to 200c, 180fan, 390f, gas 4 Cook for 20 minutes Then turn down oven, ( take out windy pasty if making) to 180c, 160fan, 350f, gas 4 cook for a final 30 minutes.
