Inside Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Forgotten Hijrah Garden

Welcome to Bustan Al Mustadhal, the Garden of the Shaded One in Madinah, KSA. The Prophet ﷺ had just escaped Makkah. He had survived three days in a cave. He had crossed the desert. And when he finally arrived — this garden is where he stopped. 🌿 FULL DESCRIPTION: Most people visit Masjid Quba and move on. But 150 metres away, hidden from every tourist map and almost every ziyarat tour, is the place where the Prophet ﷺ first set foot in Madinah after the Hijrah. Where Abu Bakr RA shaded him from the sun with his cloak. Where the Ansar; who had never seen him, mistook Abu Bakr RA for the Prophet ﷺ himself. And where the first Fajr prayer in Madinah was prayed. In this video we go to all of it. 📖 THE FULL STORY It was Monday, 12 Rabi al-Awwal, 1 AH. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Abu Bakr RA had spent three nights hiding in Cave Thawr, crossed hundreds of kilometres of desert, and were now approaching Madinah, the city that had pledged to protect them with their lives. The first place he arrived was Bostan al-Mustadhal, the Garden of the Shaded one, a palm orchard west of Masjid Quba where the Ansar had gathered to welcome him. Abu Bakr RA stood to receive the people while the Prophet ﷺ sat in silence. Some of the Ansar who had never seen the Prophet ﷺ before began greeting Abu Bakr RA, assuming he was the man they had been waiting for. Then the sun shifted. Abu Bakr RA stepped forward and shaded the Prophet ﷺ with his cloak. And the Ansar finally understood, that was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. At the heart of this garden is Bir Ethiq, the Well of Ethiq, one of the blessed wells of Madinah, whose water still flows today. The Prophet ﷺ rested here, drank from this well, and received the delegations of the Ansar in this very orchard. The Islamic calendar begins after this moment. Just southwest of Masjid Quba stands Masjid Banu Unaif also known as Masjid Musabbih, the Morning Masjid. It is the location where the Prophet ﷺ offered the Fajr prayer on his arrival in Madinah on the day of the Hijrah. The first Fajr ever prayed in this city. The mosque was later built by the Banu Unaif tribe on the exact spot where he prayed, the Prophet ﷺ went to Banu Unaif to visit Talha ibn al-Bara RA during his illness. The Prophet prayed in their quarters, and they honoured the spot where he prayed and used to spray it with water. These three sites: the garden, the well, the masjid; form a single continuous story. The arrival. The first prayer. The first connection between the Prophet ﷺ and the people who would give their lives to protect him. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🗺️ PRACTICAL INFORMATION 📍 Bostan al-Mustadhal & Bir Ethiq: west of Masjid Quba, Madinah 📍 Masjid Banu Unaif: southwest of Masjid Quba: 24.4378° N, 39.6137° E 🕌 Masjid Banu Unaif also known as: Masjid Musabbih / The Morning Mosque 🚗 Best visited: combine with Masjid Quba ziyarat: 5–10 minute walk between sites ⏰ Masjid Banu Unaif: open for prayer, renovated 2021 by royal decree ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📚 GET THE GUIDE The BUKHAREE Makkah Tour Guide covers 25+ sacred sites with GPS coordinates, full history, and exactly what to do at each location.
