The pro-independence coalition accuses the socialist municipal government of ignoring technical reports that raised doubts about the initial document. “Today it has been demonstrated that our warnings were not simply a ‘no’ for the sake of saying no, but rather, among other reasons, real problems that have now been confirmed,” they stated. The City Council has had to modify the financial report, recalculate, correct reports, incorporate new annexes, and acknowledge substantial modifications to the file, demonstrating that “the initially approved budget was not properly prepared.” Furthermore, they emphasize that the Comptroller's Office has issued an unfavorable report and that the Budget Advisory Office is considering restarting the entire budget process. “This is no longer a political dispute between EH Bildu and the municipal government; we are facing a budget questioned by the city's own technical staff,” they stress. EH Bildu also criticizes the fact that for weeks the government tried to convey to the public that “everything was in order,” while the reports themselves reflected significant economic and legal problems.
