What does the Vatican say about Medjugorje?

Medjugorje and the Marian apparitions have attracted literally millions of people to come and pray in this small town of Bosnia Herzegovina. What is this all about? What did I see when I went there? What is the gist of the Vatican's assessment of this phenomenon? Perhaps reminiscent of the attitude of the Man Born Blind (John 9:1-41), all I can say is that I was blind but now I see! I cannot speak with authority of the deepest issues here.
