PAGANINI "Nel cor più non mi sento"

The variations on the theme "Nel cor più non mi sento" are taken from an aria from the III act of the opera "La Molinara" written by Paisiello in 1798. There are at least three versions of them, the first of which was composed in Naples in 1821. The piece includes an introductory whim and then a theme developed in a fan pattern with seven variations (in this video I play two of them) and it is characterized by an alternation of cantabile moments with virtuoso moments. The same Paganini claimed, with regard to his Variations, that the solo violin could achieve "the whole harmony", without the need for orchestral accompaniment.
