SOUTH AFRICA - MANDELA ATTENDS ARMED FORCES PARADE

(12 Nov 1994) President Nelson Mandela warned mutinous black troops from the former army of his ruling African National Congress that he would brook no opposition to his government on Friday (11/11). "Those who wish to undermine our efforts have no role in our new national defence force," he told top brass and soldiers at the first parade of the integrated South African National Defence Force since historic all-race elections in April.In his speech, President Mandela appealed to every member of the armed forces and every citizen to join hands and co-operate in building a truly national Defence Force.
