Mnangagwa Presidential Term | Dr Mpofu, Ndebele on overriding Zimbabwe's constitution
Tension is brewing in Zimbabwe after the country's ruling ZANU-PF cleared the way for President Emmerson Mnangagwa 's third term, should he wish to continue in office. Constitutionally the 83-year-old leader is required to leave office in 2028 after serving two elected terms. However, the ruling party wants that changed to allow Mnangagwa to seek a third term. This move is viewed by many as both controversial and unconstitutional and if successful, it will have a ripple effect, not only within Zimbabwe, but the region as a whole.
