ריקודי העם הישראליים עברו שלבי התפתחות רבים. אחד השלבים היה כניסתו של סגנון הטנגו לרחבות ריקודי העם שלנו. בשנת 1984 הציג רוני סימן טוב בהשתלמות של יואב אשריאל, את הריקוד "קיץ על העיר" לפי השיר "קיץ אחד של כושר" ששר יהורם גאון. ההקלטה עברה עריכה ששינתה די הרבה את סדר המילים בשיר ואף השמיטה קטעים רבים. ניתן היה לעשות זאת אחרת... הריקוד התקבל בהתלהבות והתפשט מהר בכל הארץ והעולם. כבר באותה שנה חיבר ישראל שיקר את הריקוד השני באותו סגנון - "בוא נשוב אל הטנגו", שגם אותו שר יהורם גאון. מאז חוברו עוד ריקודים בסגנון אהוב זה ויש גם שירים במקצב הטנגו שהריקודים שחוברו להם אין בהם תנועות המזכירות טנגו אבל זהו כבר סיפור אחר...
