Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan Update Public Workshop - June 16, 2026

On June 16, 2026, the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council hosted the first of several public workshops to discuss updating the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan to better reflect current wildfire hazards and community needs. At this workshop, the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council coordinator team partnered with Dudek, the Community Wildfire Protection Plan update lead planning consultant, to present an overview of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan update process, project timeline and an introduction to its preliminary wildfire hazard assessment and community risk modeling results. As part of this effort, the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council is seeking input from residents, landowners, community organizations and other interested parties to update the plan's priorities and recommendations. The public is encouraged to participate in upcoming workshops and complete both the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan Community Survey and the Wildfire Concerns Mapping Survey to help inform the plan's update and ensure the plan reflects local knowledge, concerns and priorities for wildfire preparedness, mitigation and resilience. Funding for this project was partially provided by a grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as part of the California Climate Investments Program, through the California Fire Safe Council and by CAL FIRE’s Wildfire Prevention Grants Program.
