My 15 ESSENTIAL Synthpop Songs from the Early 80s Dancefloor (1980-83)

In this video, I look back at 15 essential synthpop songs that, for me, defined the early 80s dancefloor between 1980 and 1983. These are not just the biggest or most obvious tracks, but songs that made a real impact during those years. Tracks that captured the feeling of a new electronic sound emerging, shaping club culture, and creating a space where something completely new was happening. The selection is based on personal experience, growing up just north of Copenhagen and discovering this music in the clubs where it truly lived. Places like Daddy’s and Nice, where sound, fashion and atmosphere came together, and where the early synthpop movement found its identity. Artists featured include The Human League, OMD, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Visage, Yazoo, Heaven 17, Blancmange, Thompson Twins, Thomas Dolby, Gary Numan, B-Movie, Eurythmics, Ultravox and Landscape. This video is also a personal reflection on those early years, and is dedicated to my friend Jeppe, who shared many of those dancefloor moments. If you were there at the time, or discovered this music later, I would be interested to hear which songs defined those years for you.
