Amhrán na gCeilteach – Keltische Lieder von Göttern, Ahnen und Mythen

Amhrán na gCeilteach – Celtic songs of gods, ancestors, and myths This mix brings together five songs that transform the soul of the Celtic world into sound. They are songs of gods, myths, and festivals—songs that tell of ancient times, of ancestors and nature, of fate and renewal. The collection takes you from the sacred oaks to the Allfather Dagda and the Lord of the Forest Cernunnos, into the sad and beautiful legend of the Children of Lir, and finally to the festival of the autumn equinox, Mabon. Each song is a gateway, each a ritual, each a call to the forces that still work within and around us today. Blood of the Oaks “Blood of the Oaks” is a song for the ancestors, for the sacred wood, and for the power of the forests. For the Celts, the oak was the tree of strength, protection, and wisdom. It was considered a connection between heaven and earth, between humans and the gods. The song commemorates the sacrifices that were made, the circle of the community, and the ancient power that lives in every tree. Dagda – Song of the All-Father Dagda is the “Good God,” the All-Father of the Tuatha Dé Danann. He carries the inexhaustible cauldron, the magical harp, and the mighty club. He embodies abundance, music, wisdom, battle, and protection. The song praises Dagda as the provider, guardian, and wise god who nourishes and protects the people and guides them through the seasons. Cernunnos – Lord of the Forest Cernunnos is the sacred one, the god of animals, cycles, and nature. He appears with antlers, surrounded by wild animals, and represents eternal becoming and passing away. His song evokes the wild power of the forest, the heartbeat of the earth, and the ancient knowledge of nature. It is a call to freedom, to life itself, which moves in everything. Children of Lir – Amhrán na bhFaoileán The legend of the Children of Lir is one of the best-known Irish myths. Four children were turned into swans by their stepmother's curse and had to wander across lakes and seas in swan form for 900 years. The song tells of their pain, their longing, and their song, which brought both comfort and sorrow. It is a song of transformation, loss, and the hope of redemption and homecoming. Mabon – Amhrán na Cothromaíochta Mabon is the festival of the autumn equinox, the time of balance between light and dark. The song celebrates the abundance of the harvest, gratitude for the gifts of the earth, and the transition into the darker season. It is a song of thanksgiving and balance, a sound that unites day and night and reminds us of the eternal cycle of becoming and passing away. Meaning of the mix This mix is more than a collection of songs. It is a ritual in five voices: The oak calls upon the ancestors and the power of nature. Dagda bestows abundance, protection, and wisdom. Cernunnos reminds us of the cycles of life and death. The children of Lir carry longing and transformation within them. Mabon combines balance and gratitude in the cycle of the year. Together they create a soundscape that guides the listener through myths, gods, and festivals—a musical journey into the otherworld.
