POS-KUPANG.COM - A CN-235 transport aircraft operated by Air Squadron 27, based at Manuhua Air Force Base, Biak, reportedly experienced an incident while landing at Oksibil Airport, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, on Friday (March 13, 2026) at around 8:00 a.m. WIT. The aircraft encountered problems during the landing process on the Oksibil Airport runway. One of the aircraft's rear tires is suspected to have burst shortly before or as the wheels touched the runway, causing sparks and causing the aircraft to skid off the runway. Pegunungan Bintang Police Chief, AKBP Anto Seven, confirmed the incident. He stated that the incident occurred in the morning when an Indonesian Air Force aircraft was landing at Oksibil. According to him, the preliminary suspicion is that a tire burst during landing. The aircraft was reportedly flying from Jayapura to Oksibil, carrying Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel, as well as a number of equipment and logistics intended for troop operational needs in the Pegunungan Bintang region. As a result of the incident, the plane briefly veered off the landing strip and skidded off the runway. To date, there have been no official reports of fatalities or injuries in the incident.
