We’re up before sunrise in Brisbane and flying all the way to Miami on American Airlines via Dallas Fort Worth. Our long-haul flight to Dallas goes smoothly, and we even manage to get two seats together at the back of the plane. But things get interesting when we land in the US… A TSA delay causes us to miss our connecting flight to Miami, and although American Airlines rebooks us, the new flight is delayed by another two hours. After nearly 30 hours of travel, we finally arrive in Miami — tired, hungry, and very ready to start this trip. We check into the Cavalier South Beach, a beautiful Art Deco hotel right on Ocean Drive. After a quick freshen‑up, we enjoy a lovely dinner at the hotel before heading out for late‑night ice cream at Icy & Spicy. We finish the night with a walk along Ocean Drive and a final drink at Finnegan’s Irish Bar.
