How-To Videos: CMC Arthroplasty (Intro)

ASHT's new video training series was developed to provide hand therapists with an educational tool for continuing education credits. The videos feature a hand therapist interacting with a patient during the treatment progression for a series of upper extremity conditions. The first topic in the video series is carpometacarpal (also known as CMC) arthroplasty, a common surgical intervention for CMC deterioration resulting from arthritic degeneration. This series of three 10-minute videos will take you through the initial patient evaluation process, continue with the fabrication of a volar forearm-based CMC thumb spica orthosis and conclude with the reassessment process and the advancement of the post-operative rehabilitation program. To access the video series, please visit the Virtual Education tab under the ASHT Store at www.asht.org.
