“Teresita Reyes. Ahora que no estás” de Teresita Giacaman Reyes

Just over a year ago, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, the renowned and beloved Chilean actress Teresita Reyes passed away. Her death at the age of 75 from jaw cancer was a great loss for our country's culture. But we know little about how her death affected her family, her four children and grandchildren, but above all, her youngest daughter, the journalist and writer Teresita Giacaman Reyes. Teresita, the daughter, didn't plan to write a biography about her mother. It was grief, with its physical and emotional impact, that led her to begin this personal diary, where, without idealizing, she addresses the complex and rich relationship with the public figure we all remember with joy. Because, as happens with many of us in our private lives, beyond the persona, the cameras, and the lights, Teresita Reyes was immersed in vulnerability, where the fear of childhood abandonment throbbed, a fear that in her profession translated into the fear of being forgotten and the insecurity of remaining relevant.
