There’s a Mountain Trail Behind My House in Japan
I live in rural Japan and share the quiet everyday life of the countryside — from seasonal food and gardening to simple moments in nature. In this video, I take a walk on a mountain trail that begins right behind my house in Kyoto. When I bought this house, I had no idea there was a trail leading into the mountains just a few steps from my back door. Discovering it was one of the happiest surprises of living here, and it has since become one of my favorite places to walk. The trail passes through bamboo forests, cedar trees, and quiet woodland that changes with the seasons. In late spring, the forest is full of birdsong, fresh greenery, and signs of wildlife. It’s a peaceful place that I often have entirely to myself. Many visitors travel to famous places like Arashiyama to see bamboo forests, but hidden trails like this can be found throughout rural Japan. Away from the crowds, these places offer a different side of the country one that feels slower, quieter, and deeply connected to nature. Living in rural Japan isn’t always the most convenient lifestyle, but moments like these remind me why I chose it. I hope you enjoy this peaceful walk through the countryside of Japan. ▼ You can also read more about my life and travels in Japan here. https://thomasfay.com/ #broccoliharvest #ruraljapan #countrysidejapan #farmvlog #countrylife
