Calvary at Fort Sisseton 2026

I have four hobbies, photography, video, audio recording and lighting. Photography for about 52 years and the others more recent. The plan for this moment was to go to Fort Sisseton in the morning and capture video with high quality sound. Every adventure is a learning moment……. Red Komodo-X with a 150mm 2X anamorphic lens, lidar focusing system, Sound Devices MixPre-6 II, Sennheiser MKH-416 and MKH-50 microphones and 2 LOM basicUcho microphones for stereo effect. Once set up, the timing was right for video of the Calvary demo on the parade grounds. With everything set up and tweaked, I pressed record on the MixPre-6. I was using Deity Microphones TC-1 Timecode Generators for time code. Using the phone app, the units would not communicate. When I got home, the fix ended up being a Bluetooth reset on the phone. Also, when I got home, the MixPre-6 didn’t have any recorded audio. I don’t know if I didn’t hold the record button long enough, other than pressing it. The unit will look like its recording with the meters jumping and sound in the headphones. There are color changes on the record button and on the screen if you pay attention. In the end, the time code didn’t matter… I replaced the lack of sound with some music and sound effects. The lidar system worked great the night before, when I calibrated it for the lens. Now there was no lidar image on the screen, and the focus motor wasn’t responding. Luckily, I had the monitor side handle remote for the focus motor. Now that I’m pulling focus, my right hand isn’t on the tripod handle much and I am controlling camera movements with two small handle grips. The camera wasn’t always where I wanted it to be. It was a good experience, here’s my video.
