In this episode of the Kakbhushundi Ramayana, King Dasharatha narrates to Lord Rama and his brothers the inspiring story of the Raghu clan's dignity and tradition. He explains that his ancestor, King Raghu, performed the Vishwajit Yagya under the guidance of family guru Vashishtha. After the Yagya, King Raghu vowed not to let any beggar leave his door empty-handed. The treasury was emptied of donations, and even the Queen's jewels were given away. Just then, Sage Kautsa arrived to ask for a donation of 14,000 gold coins. King Raghu, in order to keep his word, asked for two days' time and accommodated him in the guest house. To fulfill his promise, he had to fight against Kubera Deva. In the battle, Kubera Deva's commander captured him, but pleased with King Raghu's courage and integrity, Kubera Deva granted him 14,000 gold coins.
