SUNA PEKUYSAL | Türk Sinemasının Usta İsmi Suna Pekuysal Kimdir?

Adile Suna was born in Istanbul on October 24, 1933, as the daughter of Hadiye Hanim and Ilhami Bey. Her destiny would be shaped by her father's destiny. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say his decisions... Ilhami Bey was studying at the Harbiye Academy, where he fell from a horse and broke his hip. Due to medical conditions of the time, and perhaps also due to partial neglect, Ilhami Bey's fracture healed incorrectly. He was only 20 years old, a young man, he decided he couldn't spend his life on crouches and confined himself first to bed and then to life. He thought he had very little time to live.; Of course, he had nothing better to do since he had 7 years left. A year and a half before he said good-bye to life at 27, he got married to his neighbors, Hadiye, in that bed he could never leave. 7 months after Adile Suna was born, he said good-bye to his daughter, whom he could not get enough of, and his husband. Adile, his mother's; SUNA WAS THE NAME OF A TANGON SHE LOVED VERY MUCH. SHE DEEMED THESE TWO NAMES APPROPRIATE FOR HER BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER FROM THE MOMENT OF BIRTH. WHEN İLHAMI BEY PASSED AWAY, THE LAW ON SURNAMES HAD NOT YET BEEN ENACTED. SUNA DID USE HER MOTHER'S SURNAME, PEKUYSAL. IT CAN BE SAID THAT SUNA ACTUALLY GREW UP IN THE CAĞALOĞLU PUBLIC EVENT. HER MOTHER, WHO LOVED THE STAGE, WAS AN AMATEUR THEATER ACTIVITY THERE. SUNA SPENT ALL OF HER TIME OUTSIDE SCHOOL WITH HER. Reşat Bulaner, who designed the sets for the community center plays, became a second father to Suna's aloof, yet equally beautiful heart. Her father designed the sets, and her mother was one of the actors performing in them. Meanwhile, Suna was studying at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory's singing and ballet department. In 1949, she made her stage debut in Kadri Ögelman's play "Artist Wanted" in the children's section of the Istanbul City Theater. Three years later, they would take her into the drama department, and Suna would never come down from the stage again... Darülbedayi was established; but her mother, Hadiye Hanim, couldn't move there due to the presence of her two daughters from her second marriage. Darülbedayi was the first name of the Istanbul City Theater. Of course, this didn't mean she was giving up on the theater. She would always continue, at least as an audience; most of the time, she would watch Suna. SHE ALWAYS SAYING TO HER: “YOU COMPLETED ME, MY BABY, I ALSO ACHIEVE WHAT I COULDN’T DO”… EVEN IF HER MOTHER COULDN’T GO, ONE DAY THE ROADS TO DARÜLBEDAYI APPEARED TO SUNA. WHEN FERIH EGEMEN, ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF DARÜLBEDAYI CHILDREN’S THEATRE, CAME TO THE HALKEVI, HE TOOK LITTLE SUNA, WHO WAS WAITING FOR HER MOTHER’S REHEARSAL TO FINISH, AND TAKING HER AWAY. SHE WAS ONLY 13 YEARS OLD; BUT SUNA HAD TOOK HER FIRST STEP INTO DARÜLBEDAYI WITH THE ROLE OF SISTERSTORY TELLING INCI IN THE PLAY CALLED “EFE ALI”. THEN THE MAGIC SHOES ARRIVED; Cinderellas, Pollyannas, Red Cats, and of course, more followed... Now it was time for her to study at the Conservatory in Ankara. Suna was very talented. However, since she missed the application deadline, she wasn't able to study here. Rather than wait for the next application date, she considered small roles already available at the drama theater. The role of the dishwasher girl in the play "The Bride" was Suna's first significant role. She couldn't quite fit in. HOWEVER, THERE WAS ONLY ONE SENTENCE SHE SAID AT THE END OF THE SECOND ACT: “EXCUSE ME, SIR, I WAS PASSING BY…” YEARS LATER, IN AN INTERVIEW WITH SAVAŞ AY, SHE WOULD SAY: “IT’S THE CENTER OF OUR LOVE SINCE DARÜLBEDAYI.” #SunaPekuysal #SunaPekuysalLife #WhoIsSunaPekuysal
