Today we’re taking a full walk around the farm to check on everything after some much-needed rain here in Alabama. From the garden to the animals, it’s one of those days where you can really see the difference a little rain can make. We head back to the kitchen garden to check on the tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, herbs, and strawberries, and things are finally starting to take off. There’s nothing better than seeing those first tomatoes coming in and watching everything grow after a tough stretch. I also share an honest update on our raised garden beds and what I’ve learned about using untreated timbers. Over in the barn and pasture, we get into the daily routine with the horses, donkeys, and cows. We talk about hoof care, feeding, brushing winter coats out, and getting ready for a farrier visit. I also share a simple but important tip for horse and donkey owners about rolling behavior and how to tell the difference between normal dust bathing and something more serious like colic. We also take care of Honey and Jesse, check on the rest of the animals, and enjoy a peaceful day around the farm as everything greens back up.
